donatien_alphonsi'm having a weird problem logging into the desktop environment.01:02
donatien_alphons(kde)01:02
donatien_alphons basically, when i boot up, the normal splash screen displays for several seconds just before the login screen would appear. but just as the login screen starts to appear, it disappears and drops me to a terminal login.01:03
donatien_alphonsdoing ctrl+alt+f7 does nothing01:08
donatien_alphonsstartx gives me an error, but sudo startx works (but then i'm logged in as root and can't do things like listen to audio)01:12
donatien_alphonsany ideas?01:12

cbfishes1morning! I'm having an issue where claudia auto-connects outputs... is there a way to completely disable automatic connections in claudia?12:29

falktxthe automatic connections are a basic feature of ladish12:35
falktxyou can disable *all* auto-connections though12:36
cbfishes1falktx: oh yeah? how would I do that?12:36
cbfishes1falktx: I thought there might be some command line option for that but I haven't found it yet12:36
falktxthe jack configuration, no-self-connect on the first tab12:36
cbfishes1falktx: cool- I'm going to try that.. thanks!12:37
cbfishes1falktx: ok...I set "self connect mode" to "fail all self connect request" and I can see now that ardour can't choose inputs or outputs, I must make those connections in claudia12:41
cbfishes1falktx: perhaps it would be better if I explain my issue... I'm using ardour with claudia (started by cadence). I discovered that in ardour, when I add a new track, the outputs of that track *and all other tracks in my ardour project* are routed to the main master outputs, even if the other tracks were previously routed to other places (like busses)12:43
falktxladish remembers those connections12:44
falktxit will try to re-do them constantly12:44
cbfishes1falktx: ok.. is there any way to allow ardour to control routing, but also prevent claudia/ladish from trying to reconnect outputs?12:45
falktxno12:45
falktxthis is a feature on ladish, by design12:45
cbfishes1falktx: perhaps I'm just misunderstanding how ladish/jack/jack clients all work together12:45
falktxwhen you disconnect a port on anything other than ladish, it thinks it was by mistake12:45
cbfishes1falktx: ah I see...12:46
cbfishes1falktx: here's what I'm trying to do: I want to be able to run ardour, hydrogen, and other audio/midi making programs, and route them via jack, and also save specific configurations so I can quickly recall them (that's why I thought claudia was the answer for this). However, I want to be able to very specifically control the input and output routing in ardour, especially when it comes to tracks going places other than the main output12:49
cbfishes1falktx: does that make sense?12:50
falktxyes12:51
falktxbut ladish is not really suited for that12:51
falktxardour itself acts a bit like a connection manager. ladish doesn't like that12:52
falktxyou might want to try nsm instead12:52
cbfishes1falktx: ok cool, I'm looking into that. Will that save all my connections and allow me to recall all the programs and their files? (looks like it will if I include jackpatch in the session)12:53
falktxyes12:54
cbfishes1falktx: fantastic! I think I'm starting to understand how having claudia and ardour fighting over ins and outs could be an issue12:54
cbfishes1falktx: I really appreciate the help12:54

vlad1777dHello to all. What library will be comfort to use for wrighting Piano Roll interface on Python ? (I am a bit newbie)15:17
falktxyou're a newbie but you want to write a piano roll?15:18
vlad1777dyeas, It will write notes into text files or send to other program ))15:19
vlad1777dI learn only python, so I think it will be a good start15:20
vlad1777dbut I know15:20
vlad1777dEnglish not well, so It15:20
vlad1777d's hardly to me to read many text of manuals and references. Sorry , key Enter works badly )15:21
falktxthe piano roll is one of the most complex things to do15:25
falktxI don't recommend you trying to do yourself this from scratch15:26
vlad1777dThank you, but I'll try to make matrix and reading-writing from text file15:31
falktxwell, if you're sure for that considering using PyQt15:32
vlad1777dThank you )15:42

rgareusfalktx: do you take polls how to name the next KXstudio apps?22:40
rgareuscan I vote for Clara?22:40
falktxno, no polls. and no you can't vote22:42
falktxnext one is caytlin22:42
rgareusnice22:42
rgareusfalktx: how do you pick those?22:43
rgareusisn't that with "i" usually?22:43
rgareuscaitlyn22:43
falktxI don't know the correct wording right now, not important yet anyway22:43
falktxprobably that22:44
rgareuslike lynn  but with cai :)22:44
rgareusand only one n22:44
falktxcaitlyn the midi sequencer22:44
* rgareus is going to start a rumor that it's all one-night-stands.22:45
falktxI wish22:45
rgareuswanna name the next kxstudio app?  does your name start with a C?  -> try falktx!22:45
falktxI already have too many apps22:46
falktxI'd like to get *less* things to do22:46
falktxI wish someone would step up as a kxstudio replacement. I feel lonely doing this alone22:46
falktxeven avlinux is making a pause22:47
falktxwithout "competition" I can get a bit lazy sometimes22:48
rgareuswell, you kinda beat all compentition..22:49
rgareusUbuntuStudio is no match, really22:49
falktxI'm pretty sure with some commercial interest someone could easily do a better job22:49
rgareusthe last commercial endeavour  failed after doing the math (and was the end of 64studio)22:51
falktx*pretty sure someone22:51
falktxthat was too soon for me22:51
falktxsame with jacklab22:51
falktxrgareus: has anyone wrote anything about what happened there, in detail?22:51
rgareushttp://www.carillonac1.com/ wanted a Linux Audio Distro.22:52
LAbot`Title: Carillon Audio computers, power, performance, stability and low noise operation (at www.carillonac1.com)22:52
rgareusDaniel Presented it at the LAC in Maynooth22:52
falktxI don't have much time for kxstudio right now because of MOD22:52
falktxeven my free time is often doing MOD focused things22:53
falktxnew synth, trying to get carla working there... :P22:53
falktxI'll have some free time in december which I'll try to get all details right22:54
falktxrelease everything etc. because I know after the vacation I'll be back doing MOD stuff all the time22:54
falktxI need to prepare for kde5. I'll miss kde4 :(22:55
falktxkde5 is just so buggy. like incredible it passed as release22:55
falktxsorta like systemd :P22:55
rgareusnice that MOD keeps you going.  I suppose there could be a lot worse jobs.23:02
falktxyes, but now I'm in berlin23:03
rgareuspaid work on GPL'ed linux audio software is hard to come by.23:03
falktxthat you know so far ;)23:03
* rgareus will soon be in Berlin too.. probably mid Feb 2016.23:04
falktx90% of the software is open23:04
falktxthere's still some closed bits23:04
falktxgian wants to build the userbase first23:04

zhanshanI got problems with jack using cadence in debian xfce23:33
zhanshan in the beginning it's running properly, but after a few seconds the sound gets distorted and kinda delayed23:33
zhanshan if I use x-www-browser in terminal there's no error showing up23:33
zhanshan but for example vlc sometimes gets really badly freezing and strangely juming back and forth freezing the whole system for several seconds23:33
zhanshanany idea what could have gone wrong?23:33
