daeavelwynfalktx: hi, ok, if you have some time i'm ready to test carla on windows 8 :)13:17
falktxI uploaded a binary some days ago13:19
falktxdaeavelwyn: http://sourceforge.net/projects/kxstudio/files/Releases/carla/testing/Carla-2.0beta4a-win32.zip/download13:19
LAbot`Title: Download KXStudio from SourceForge.net (at sourceforge.net)13:19
daeavelwynwith the ability of loading kontakt (as a 64bit vst) in carla ?13:19
falktxyes13:19
daeavelwyncool :)13:20
falktxthe patchbay mode allows that13:20
falktxbut no midi input :(13:20
daeavelwynarf, so that's what I need :-/13:20
daeavelwyni would like to send musescore midi out to kontakt midi in (loaded into carla) with jack as sound server13:21
daeavelwynthe goal is to prove musescore+carla+jack is a portable solution for compositors :)13:21
daeavelwyni've already made screencast for linux (as it's my main system it has been really easy)13:22
daeavelwynand i would like to do the same on windows 8 now13:22
daeavelwynbut if it's not possible13:22
daeavelwynwell...it's not possible ^^13:22
falktxit will be possible later13:22
falktxthat part of the code is just unfinished13:23
daeavelwynok ok, I guess you are working on this kind of feature :)13:23
daeavelwynnevermind, i'm in no hurry :)13:24
daeavelwynmusescore 2 isn't yet released13:24
daeavelwynstill in beta13:24
daeavelwynand works really great on linux :)13:24

aeLiXihrhi there, hope you can help. Suddenly my computer wont boot anymore. I unplugged, opened, closed and replugged it to check where some fan noise came from. But if i switch it on the GRUB shows(bigger than normal) but it will not boot any partition i choose...14:54
distrozapperaeLiXihr, do you have more than one harddisk? How old is your computer?15:09
aeLiXihryes i have an ssd where both OSes are on and an aditional disk for data, the computer is almost 1 year15:11
aeLiXihrthank you!15:12
distrozapperaeLiXihr, the simplest thing would be unplugging the computer again and to have a look at the internal cabling. Specially watch the SATA disk cabling (maybe it is loosened or has got dusty contacts).15:17
aeLiXihrthank you, what is sata?15:18
aeLiXihrbus interface that connects host bus adapters to mass storage devices?15:19
aeLiXihrwht does it look like15:19
distrozapperaeLiXihr , https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Serial_ATA15:20

aeLiXihris it this: data:image/jpeg;base64,/9j/4AAQSkZJRgABAQAAAQABAAD/2wCEAAkGBxQSEhQUEhQVFRQVFBQUFBQXFBcXFBYUFBQXFhQVFBQYHCggGBolHBQUITEhJSksLi4uFx8zODMsNygtLisBCgoKDg0OGBAQGiwkHCQsLCwsLCwsLCwsLywsLCwsLCwsLCwsLCwsLCwsLCwsLCwsLCwsNCwsLCwsLCwsLCwsLP/AABEIALkBEQMBIgACEQEDEQH/xAAcAAACAgMBAQAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAQIGBAUHAwj/xABDEAABAwEGAwUHAgMGBAcAAAABAAIRAwQFEiExQQZRYRMiMnGBQlKRobHB0WLwByPhM0NjcpLCFVOy8RQWRHOCoqP/xAAaAQEAAwEBAQAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAQMEAgU15:20
distrozapperaeLiXihr, please dont post binary data here ;)15:21
aeLiXihri will have an other look, thank you!15:21
aeLiXihrsorry, it was maent to be a picture15:21
distrozapperaeLiXihr, you say "suddenly" and "GRUB" shows bigger than normal. Did the computer crash suddenly?15:23
aeLiXihrno it did not crash, i replugged it and tried to boot but it does not go, just checked the plug on the HDs all seems well15:29
aeLiXihrGRUB is about 2 or 3 times larger font15:29
distrozapperaeLiXihr, is the graphics onboard or is it an extra card?15:31
aeLiXihri think it is an 9500GT15:33
aeLiXihrdoes that make sence?15:33
aeLiXihrsense15:33
distrozapperaeLiXihr, it is nvidia 9500GT then, makes sense15:34
aeLiXihryes15:35
aeLiXihrthat is it15:35
aeLiXihrbut since the GRUB is actualy readable i think the Grafic card is working?15:36
distrozapperaeLiXihr, have a look whether the nvidia card fits tight in its socket. I have seen graphics cards only allowing VGA graphics when they begin to fail. Caution, may be hot.15:37
aeLiXihr...on the other hand: there is no blinking cursor15:38
aeLiXihryes i will15:38
aeLiXihrthankyou!15:38
distrozapperaeLiXihr, yw.15:40
aeLiXihrall seems well15:40
aeLiXihri pressed a bit on the card, no movement15:41
distrozapperaeLiXihr, I am running out of ideas. I have also seen SSD<->Mainboard incompatibilities causing sporadic kernel oopses. Are you familiar with the PC's BIOS? You could check there for system health/voltages.15:43
aeLiXihreh, i may try and enter the bios but it goes so fast i could not read wich button to press...15:45
aeLiXihrhang on :)15:46
distrozapperaeLiXihr, try dabbling on F2, F10 and DEL all at once15:47
aeLiXihrit was del15:47

aeLiXihrwhere should i look15:50
*** JackWinter has quit IRC15:51
distrozapperaeLiXihr, I dont know your BIOS, sorry.15:51
aeLiXihr:) i see, but it has to do with mainboard settings right?15:52
distrozapperaeLiXihr, yes. Dont do any changes in it unless you know what you do.15:53
aeLiXihri do not find anything that looks like voltages15:54
distrozapperaeLiXihr, ok then.15:55
distrozapperaeLiXihr, no more ideas so far.15:56
aeLiXihrthank you15:56
aeLiXihri mail the seller15:56
aeLiXihrsee what they come up with tomorrow15:57

distrozapperaeLiXihr, If you dare, you could boot some live-DVD linux and see whether you can read the SSD from there.15:58
aeLiXihrokay, that is a plan15:58
aeLiXihri will try right away15:59
*** rncbc has joined #kxstudio16:03
aeLiXihrnow, that is funny. the led was flashing as if booting but still a black screen... so i guess you are right about the card16:03
aeLiXihrit has 2 connectors...16:04
aeLiXihrdo you think i could just plug the monitor into the 2nd. connector16:04
aeLiXihror should i change something in the bios then?16:05
distrozapperaeLiXihr, dont change the bios atm. Yes you could try the second connector but I fear it wont help.16:11
distrozapperaeLiXihr, what live linux did you try to boot? It should be recent.16:12
aeLiXihrthe latest KX16:13
distrozapperThat is OK16:14
aeLiXihr32bit trhough16:14
aeLiXihrbut that is no problem right?16:14
distrozapperno matter, 32bit is good16:14
aeLiXihri will change connector16:15
aeLiXihrno, nothing. It is so weird: yesterday all was fine i only opened the computer and put it back together and now it wont work anymore16:17
distrozapperaeLiXihr, you didn't pull/plug any connector?16:18
aeLiXihrdistrozapper: yes, it is in a flightcase so i had to remove all connections on the back, but i put them all back16:21
distrozapperaeLiXihr, OK that shouldnt be harmful.16:23
distrozapperaeLiXihr, What manufacturer/model is your machine?16:24
aeLiXihrcarillion16:25
aeLiXihrIntel i7 3.3GHz 4 Cores 8 Threads 16GB DDR3 (2x8GB) 1600MHz     1TB 7,200RPM 250GB SSD SATA III DVD 24x Dvd±rw (dual ±r)/ram Sata Drive (internal Black)16:27

aeLiXihri am very satisfied so far16:31
aeLiXihrcostommer service is fine too16:31
aeLiXihrcustomer16:31
distrozapperaeLiXihr, so maybe better to ask them, they might have got better idea.16:33
aeLiXihryeah, thank you again! it is very kind16:33
distrozapperaeLiXihr, yw. Good luck!16:34
aeLiXihrthanks i will let you know16:34
