Regarding to mangas, there are also gifted drawers, who draw mangas, but
nobody does like to call them manga artists (since there are more
prejudices about mangas, than about other comics), I guess Katsuhiro
Otomo is the most known.
The component most people overinterpret is the sexual component. Reading
some manags from a female drawer might teach that manags are not only
about sexuality. I suspect Rumiko Takahashi is the most successful
female drawer on this planet.
Take a look at art prints from the "Oh My Godess!" drawer. I don't think
that Richard Corben and Kosuke Fujishima are less talented, than
Leonardo da Vinci. I've seen Corben's anatomy book, I don't know any old
master who was that good.
Out of context, just watching the pictures on a screen doesn't show the
high quality.
