In short, a very clumsy way of loading soundfonts. Where you'd expect just
a simple dialog, there is a complicated process of creating "engines" and
loading soundfonts into them.

Very difficult to switch between files (it will usually re-initialize the
engine), usually causing an audible click.
Not easy to load soundfonts quickly from GUI - you need to go into engine
properties, then choose the tab you need, then load.
Additionally, a very confusing system of loading multiple soundfonts - you
can try to use it but it will require lots of preparation. I had to setup
my engines beforehand and learn which soundfont is loaded into which.

Not that there is nothing good to say about it - windows to choose
soundfont bank have ability to save/load presets. But all in all - I would
just prefer a simple sf2 loader which gives me the ability to quickly load
a soundfont and play it easily. I cover this a little bit here:
http://www.louigiverona.ru/?page=projects&s=writings&t=linux&a=linux_flu...

Unfortunately, I do not see CALF Fluidsynth in my plugin list - looks like
it is not in a stable branch. Correct me if I am wrong.
Anyway, I would go for a simply plugin interface like CALF Fluidsynth. But
in general I find sf2 handling on Linux lacking.

Still, I have used QSynth for my live performances and have developed a
system to more or less easily handle the job. Try this little article:

Hope this helps!
