Content-Type: text/plain; charset=ISO-8859-1I am using EWI USB on Ubuntu Linux laptop: 6 year-old HP 2Ghz 1MB, it works
fine with Reaper under Wine with VSTs for Akai Aria USB Player, Aria COMB2
with full player, Korg M1 DLE and SFZ+ player. Also, Band in a Box under
Wine - in this config with BIAB playing the SFZ+ VST in Reaper as well as
live EWI the computer barely copes, due to insufficient memory and CPU - a
modern laptop should sail through, it just needs twice the memory and
processor power.Tony

Just wondering if any of you are using an Akai Ewi4000s as a midi
controller on a linux box. Success (or lack)?
I'd like to give it a go, but I'm wondering what synth would be bes=
t,
setup, etc. I've tried a synth on linux before (many years) with
limited success ... surely things have improved! I've tried running a
keyboard off the EWI but it's quite useless to do so ... I think the
breath controller messages get in the way?
Thanks.
