I think you need at least to change the type names in the registration
like this:

G_DEFINE_TYPE(IRWaveDisplayAmb, ir_wavedisplay, GTK_TYPE_DRAWING_AREA);

and replace all IRWaveDisplay with IRWaveDisplayAmp (not tested...).
