daeavelwynfalktx: were you serious when you talked about implementing midi channel filter in carla ?12:43
falktxyes12:43
daeavelwynok, I think it's a good news for me :)12:43
falktxsince the midi-splitter doesn't work in patchbay mode, we need something else12:43
falktxmaybe I can do this little one before packing...12:44
daeavelwynAs you wish :)12:44
daeavelwynit seems musescore 2.0 will be release without chan/port assignation12:45
daeavelwynprobably this will come later12:45
daeavelwynso if I can avoid headaches using qmidiroute on linux and pizmidi on windows, i'd, of course, really appreciate12:46
daeavelwynbut i'm not hurry :)12:46

hlblyhipygoodmorning can someone help me with tux guitar14:29
falktxdepends, what's the issue14:30
hlblyhipyno sound i have timidity installed gervil wont work and it seems nor will my midi14:30
hlblyhipywas away from my computer for a month and just started using kx studio i love it and have already made a donation14:32
falktxnice, thanks14:33
falktxhlblyhipy: have you tried qsynth yet?14:34
hlblyhipywell i have qsynth but dont know how to use it with tuxg14:38
hlblyhipyby the way you guys helped me when i first installed kx and its great but for me a huge learning curve dont know midi very well14:39
hlblyhipywhen i try gervil it says midi system unavailable14:43
hlblyhipythen i switch to tux sequencer and midi system through port 0,still nothing14:44
falktxdo you know the difference between alsa-midi and jack-midi ?14:45
hlblyhipyi have the alsa and java plugins enabled too14:45
falktxyou'll need tuxguitar-jack for it to work on kxstudio14:45
hlblyhipyi think jack midi is my bridge in carla correct14:45
hlblyhipysorry i meant cadence14:46
hlblyhipyalsa midi bridge is running14:46
falktxis tuxguitar set to use jack in its preferences?14:47
hlblyhipydont know where are the preferences14:49
falktxtools -> settings14:49
falktxsound14:49
falktxboth combo-boxes should have the "jack" part selected14:50
hlblyhipyok under that all i have is realtime seq or tuxg seq14:50
falktxdid you install tuxguitar-jack ?14:50
falktxwith this setup, tuxguitar will have jack-midi port14:51
falktxyou can connect that port to anything that makes sound, like carla, zynaddsubfx, qsynth, etc14:51
hlblyhipyoh my god i dont think i did i got tux from muon14:51
falktxsudo apt-get install tuxguitar-jack14:51
hlblyhipyok thats installed14:54
hlblyhipybe right back14:55

hlblyhipywhats the command to purge pulse audio,i know i got rid of it before but for some reason its back14:58
falktxsudo apt-get purge pulseaudio*14:59
falktxthe last asterisk is important14:59
hlblyhipyya i remeber the asteriks i dont know how pulse keeps showing up I know it must be something im doing but dont know how15:00
hlblyhipyok i set  jack midi in tux and the midi bridge is running how do i assign a synth to the jack port15:03
falktxone of the easiest ways is trough carla15:04
falktxinstall carla-git15:04
falktxopen carla, drag&drop an sf2 file in there15:05
falktxthen in the patchbay connect tuxguitar red midi port to the sf2 midi port15:05
falktxand connect the sf2 audio ports to the system playback ones15:05
hlblyhipyit says carla is installed already15:08
falktxok good, then just start and drag a sf2 file in its window15:09
hlblyhipywell never used carla before so im going to have to do a little research but you've gotten me much furthur than i was ill come back later thank you15:15
hlblyhipythere is a box in the carla canvas labeled fluidr3gm the left and right outputs are conn to system playbakc so far that should be right correct15:19
hlblyhipytux g is conn to midi through playback through port 015:20
hlblyhipya2j15:20
falktxyou don't need midi-through or a2j for this15:21
falktxconnect the tuxguitar red midi port directly to the fluid3gm port15:21
hlblyhipygot audio thank you so much.I apologize for my utter lack of knowledge in this lol15:23

spectromasJackWinter: I think there is a little issue with carla and a separate issue with a particular plugins, don't think it's wineasio though18:37
JackWinteri really have to build all the kxstudio apps some day (archlinux), but it kinda looks like all the buildscripts are really old18:39
JackWinteri mostly did cadene-git the other day, but that isn't very useful all on it's own18:40
*** active8 has quit IRC18:40
JackWinteri ought to put it all as binaries on the archaudio repo someday, but the more packaging duties you take on, the more work you have :)18:41

*** lfzawacki has joined #kxstudio18:42
spectromasI just don't have the skills or knowledge to do a great deal in packaging18:42
JackWinterhmm, gentoo was my choice and i did try to install and failed, my experience didn't match up to the installation instructions..  with archlinux it was easy.  i kinda like having a rolling distro and use binaries for most stuff.  then i build the software that really interests me, or that i want to customize18:43
spectromasyeah I was at a cross roads, it was either gentoo/funtoo or arch, I went the funtoo way and not sure I could go back to binaries now18:45
JackWinterunfortunately it's systemd or more or less nothing, i'm still not convinced and keep having regressions for years from it now.  kinda makes me think that archlinux isn't what it used to be, but on the other hand it really is a good distro and mostly works excellently18:45
JackWinterit's very seldom that i have problems, and about half of them are home made :)18:46
JackWinterbut what is very nice with our os' is that we can puzzle it together as we want.  start with a kernel and core programs, and then just add what you want and need18:49
JackWinters/os'/distos18:49
spectromasyeah I don't think arch is bad. I remember experiencing silly little bugs with systemd and I'm glad to be rid of it. It's kind of funny when you use a source based distro with control over use flags and dependencies, it makes you look at arch differently. The whole 'minimal' and KISS stuff is kind of not really true18:50
JackWinterit used to be kinda KISS and more than anything UNIX, but i get the impression that systemd is sort of mickey mouse :)18:54
JackWinteri have to relearn config stuff that i've known for more than 20 years...18:54
JackWinterand sometimes nowday i have no idea where to start trouble shooting.  but i suppose it's my own fault for not keeping up :)18:55
spectromasit changes so fast though18:56
JackWinterand i find systemd complicated and convoluted to use18:56
spectromasthankfully we still have a choice so far, don't know how long that will last though18:59
